Over the last 18 months we have been heavily investing into our filming equipment. The next tool to join the fleet is the Sony FS5! As you can see from the pictures below, it’s a fantastic looking piece of kit. The Fs5 is another industry standard camera with 4k and super slow motion capabilities, it really has everything you need to create some really stunning work. Over the last few months we’ve been working on updating the look for the Sharp Films brand. Its always been really important for our branding to match up to our work. We wanted to create a new bold, unique and easy to read logo that says exactly what It does on the tin. The website has had some updates over the last few weeks as well; all of the updated branding and photos being added onto the website so everything matches up. Like our logo, we want our website to be a platform to show you what Sharp Films is really about! With our new look website you are instantly hit with visuals that give you a really good indication of our style and creative flair.

2017, how are we more than half way through you already? Its been a fantastic year so far! We have been able to work with some great business’s in Devon but also much further afield. To accompany our new look website we have created a new showreel with all the films we have shot this year. Promotional Video Production Exeter | 4K Video Production Devon

On the Waterfront is a fantastic restaurant that is based on the picturesque part of Exeter, the “Quay”.  We were approached by Chris who manages the restaurant and he wanted us to create a unique and engaging video that showed off what makes On The Waterfront stand out from the rest. We were blessed with fantastic weather for the shoot.The Quay and On The Waterfront restaurant naturally has a great fantastic atmosphere so it was easy to capture lots of happy faces. The restaurant is known for its legendary pizza’s so it was important to capture these being made and consumed… of course we had to try a slice, or two! We finally had a spare day to get our 2017 showreel sorted to show off what Sharp Films is all about! Its great to look back at all the different projects that we’ve worked on over the last 12 months and see how we have improved brand awareness and potential reach for many of our clients. We have spoken before about the importance of social media and quality video content and it really has never been so powerful. The image below has some great stats about Facebook video.It shows that Facebook generates an average of 8 billion video views a day. Added to this is the organic reach of video is up 135% since 2015… This shows that engaging video content and social media is a winning combination for brand awareness! The year ahead – 2017 | Video production Exeter

Already we have some great projects in the pipeline for 2017 and feel that it is going to be great year. In the near future we are looking to heavily invest in new kit which means that we will be constantly moving with the technology and creating the most up to date and unique work possible! Professional Video Services Exeter | Promotional Films Devon

John Gandy’s in Exeter is one of the most popular and when known bars In Exeter. Chris who Manages John Gandy’s and also The Waterfront down by the Quay got in contact about creating a promotional film for the bar to show off its updated look. The idea of the film was to show all area’s of John Gandys! It is well known for being one of the best sports bars in Exeter but people may not know that it has a fantastic cocktail bar upstairs named Spirit and also has some great bands playing there. The aim of the video was to promote all the sides to the bar and generally show the brilliant atmosphere and what makes it so unique. The shoot was broken up into two separate nights. The first part of the shoot we got a lot of the close up shots of the cocktails being created and drinks poured. On the second night of filming is where we got the most of our footage! John Gandys had a fantastic band playing on the stage and it really filled the bar and made the atmosphere incredible. Its so much easier shooting a promotional film like this when you can see that everyone is genuinely having a great time! It was a little snug at times and making sure that beer wasn’t getting thrown over the camera was at the top my head. Check out the John Gandy’s promotional film below:

Social Media + High Quality Video = Winning combination

John Gandy’s put there promotional video on its Facebook page to initially advertise the bar and its engagement and viewing figures are very impressive. It has been viewed more than 12,000 times and has lots of great comments and reactions. This is a great example of when social media and good video content works extremely well together. This winning combination is a great way to advertise your business or product and is getting more popular every day. Event Video Production Exeter:

Edge Watersport’s is an extreme sports company based in Exmouth. They run a Stand up paddle boarding race every year called “The Exe Hammer”. I was approached by Edge water-sports to cover the event to show and unique and fun it really is. Of course we jumped at the opportunity of spending a day shooting this brilliant little event and off we went!  

The Event :

“This 12km Stand Up paddleboard race/regatta is taking a different route for 2016 with the participants paddling from Topsham back to Exmouth as opposed to the other way round in previous years. This change of direction will enable a much easier start at the Topsham quay which will be great for spectating. The post event party is set to take place at The Beach house which provides an amazing venue for a few beers and some after race banter!” –  (http://www.edgewatersports.com/exe-hammer)  

The Shoot :

The forecast for the event was looking a little iffy but even the strong winds didn’t put anyone off! I started to shoot everyone getting themselves prepared and briefed for the race ahead. This is one of the key moments to shoot at any event! Trying to capture the excitement, atmosphere and maybe even a little nerves. The media speed boat turned up, we jumped in and the race was on! It was a tricky event to film as trying to get a steady shot on a boat is always a challenge, I also had it in mind that I wanted to capture as many people as possible from novice’s right up to the pro’s. Paul Simmons really smashed it this year and won by  a mile, this meant that we had to race onto dry land to shoot him coming onto the beach and logging his time. As people started coming over the line the atmosphere really warmed up and it was easy to capture people smiling and having a great time. The beers and food then came out and it was a perfect end to a great event and shoot.  

The Film:

Capturing an event like this is always a pleasure to do. Filming people when they are having a great time laughing and smiling makes putting an event film together so much easier. Its all about showing the event off in the best possible light. Exe Hammer 2016 was a joy to shoot and we hope that we can go back next year and do it all again. Event Filming Exeter

Sharp Films recently shot this years Deep Water Solo (DWS) event in Exeter. Alison who runs the event sent us a message to say how pleased they were with the service that was provided. It goes like this:

The final film was produced a few days after the event which meant we could maximise the post event interest.  The film perfectly captured the festival vibe whilst also providing exceptional quality footage of the climbing and the climbers falling into water.
