Over the last 18 months we have been heavily investing into our filming equipment. The next tool to join the fleet is the Sony FS5! As you can see from the pictures below, it’s a fantastic looking piece of kit. The Fs5 is another industry standard camera with 4k and super slow motion capabilities, it really has everything you need to create some really stunning work. The CocktailKings Promo Film // 4K Filming services Exeter

The Cocktail Kings is made up from a couple of great guys, Alex Rogers and Jack Andrews. They  bought a VW Campervan and got it converted into a pop up cocktail bar… I know, an amazing idea right? We were approached by Alex after he saw the Exeter street food film we shot and he liked what he saw! They decided that our social media package suited their needs best and booked us in for half a day of filming at the Budleigh Food & Drink Festival. It was great to catch up with the chaps and capture their brilliant little business in full swing. The weather was on their side all weekend and had a fantastic opening weekend. We wanted to capture how unique and brilliant the CocktailKings really are and kept it short and sweet for social media use.

2017 showreel // professional filming services Devon

We finally had a spare day to get our 2017 showreel sorted to show off what Sharp Films is all about! Its great to look back at all the different projects that we’ve worked on over the last 12 months and see how we have improved brand awareness and potential reach for many of our clients. Professional Video Services Exeter | Promotional Films Devon

John Gandy’s in Exeter is one of the most popular and when known bars In Exeter. Chris who Manages John Gandy’s and also The Waterfront down by the Quay got in contact about creating a promotional film for the bar to show off its updated look. The idea of the film was to show all area’s of John Gandys! It is well known for being one of the best sports bars in Exeter but people may not know that it has a fantastic cocktail bar upstairs named Spirit and also has some great bands playing there. The aim of the video was to promote all the sides to the bar and generally show the brilliant atmosphere and what makes it so unique. The shoot was broken up into two separate nights. The first part of the shoot we got a lot of the close up shots of the cocktails being created and drinks poured. On the second night of filming is where we got the most of our footage! John Gandys had a fantastic band playing on the stage and it really filled the bar and made the atmosphere incredible. Its so much easier shooting a promotional film like this when you can see that everyone is genuinely having a great time! It was a little snug at times and making sure that beer wasn’t getting thrown over the camera was at the top my head. Check out the John Gandy’s promotional film below:

John Gandy’s put there promotional video on its Facebook page to initially advertise the bar and its engagement and viewing figures are very impressive. It has been viewed more than 12,000 times and has lots of great comments and reactions. This is a great example of when social media and good video content works extremely well together. This winning combination is a great way to advertise your business or product and is getting more popular every day. Filming Services Devon

Whoosh Group is a business based in Stratford Upon Avon that specialises in paint protection film for cars. This clear and very clever self healing film protects your car from paint damage on high impact area’s! Whoosh Group have a range or products you can buy so that you can apply the film at home yourself. We were approached by Jake who run’s Whoosh Group at the start of January as he wanted some video’s to promote his services and products. We talked Jake through the best ways to market Whoosh through video. After an initial meeting we planned to do a promotional film for social media to promote the product and service. Another very important part Jake wanted to be captured was how to fit the films yourself. The joys of Whoosh Group is that the films come in template’s fit for your cars, so it is easily applied at home. On the day of shooting we had a stunning Mercedes SLS AMG to use as a prop…. this certainly made the day even more interesting! We are currently in the stages of editing the films together for Jake but he is already very happy with the results he has seen from the camera. Small social media films like this are a great way to advertise your business and they don’t need to cost the world! Chloe Parka | Exeter Video Production

We have recently shot this promotional film for a fantastic little brand called Chloe Parka. They sell a really unique and special line of clothes that fit into the surf/snowboard category. They wanted a short film to showcase a range of different products for the launch of their new website. As well as this, they wanted a one minute edit so that it could be used on their social media accounts. The video was shot over a day on a stunning beach on the north coast of Cornwall. It’s one of our favourite places in the world, so this shoot was an absolute pleasure! There was quite a lot of shower dodging through out the day, as the english weather was doing its normal thing!

Video Production Devon

I wanted to create a very simple explanation of how the process works start to finish to create a promotional film. This process is pretty much the same for every project that is taken on; obviously the size of the project will determine how long it takes to do each stage from planning through to completion. One of the biggest and most important aims of Sharp Films is for the client to have trust in us. When a new project is starting I go through this simple process so that you know exactly what happens and when.

Plan it

I will come and meet with you or talk on the phone about your project idea or brief. This is also a time for me to understand more about your business or product. This is important so that I can make any recommendations to how the film could work. Often I am able to bounce different idea’s around that you might not of thought of and adapt the idea to be more engaging or creative. Once I understand the brief and your business I can go away and create a general plan for the shoot.

The Shoot

This is when I can get all the toys out! I shoot on some of the most up to date videography equipment available and if needed have a further production team I can bring in to assist on the shoot. Having a solid brief is always very important at this stage. Having the time to be creative is even more important tho. Often taking a step back and just shooting what works is best thing you can do ! You can capture some of those special moments or intricate details that take your film up a notch.

The Edit

The edit is my favourite part of the whole process. This is where I get to put together the creation and make the vision a reality. I use a professional and high quality edit suite powered by Apple Macs. The footage firstly gets logged in order of appearance. Then the soundtrack is added, colour is graded and then a final tighten. I then watch through to make sure I am 100% happy with the edit. The client will then be able to review the edit and I can make any further changes needed.

Event Video Production Exeter:

Edge Watersport’s is an extreme sports company based in Exmouth. They run a Stand up paddle boarding race every year called “The Exe Hammer”. I was approached by Edge water-sports to cover the event to show and unique and fun it really is. Of course we jumped at the opportunity of spending a day shooting this brilliant little event and off we went!  

The Event :

“This 12km Stand Up paddleboard race/regatta is taking a different route for 2016 with the participants paddling from Topsham back to Exmouth as opposed to the other way round in previous years. This change of direction will enable a much easier start at the Topsham quay which will be great for spectating. The post event party is set to take place at The Beach house which provides an amazing venue for a few beers and some after race banter!” –  (http://www.edgewatersports.com/exe-hammer)  

The Shoot :

The forecast for the event was looking a little iffy but even the strong winds didn’t put anyone off! I started to shoot everyone getting themselves prepared and briefed for the race ahead. This is one of the key moments to shoot at any event! Trying to capture the excitement, atmosphere and maybe even a little nerves. The media speed boat turned up, we jumped in and the race was on! It was a tricky event to film as trying to get a steady shot on a boat is always a challenge, I also had it in mind that I wanted to capture as many people as possible from novice’s right up to the pro’s. Paul Simmons really smashed it this year and won by  a mile, this meant that we had to race onto dry land to shoot him coming onto the beach and logging his time. As people started coming over the line the atmosphere really warmed up and it was easy to capture people smiling and having a great time. The beers and food then came out and it was a perfect end to a great event and shoot.  

The Film:

Capturing an event like this is always a pleasure to do. Filming people when they are having a great time laughing and smiling makes putting an event film together so much easier. Its all about showing the event off in the best possible light. Exe Hammer 2016 was a joy to shoot and we hope that we can go back next year and do it all again.
